CMS Update: Google's SEO Meta Description Increase

When a user searches for your site on Google, they will be shown a meta description of your site, commonly called a snippet. Google recently increased how much of a snippet is displayed to searching users, about 250 characters on average.

The LVSYS CMS has been updated to reflect this change. Now, when entering a meta description for your site, the CMS will alert you when you are reaching the newer, longer character limit.

Ultimately, snippets are meant to provide the most helpful information possible about your site and encourage users to click. Whether your meta description is relatively short or long, what matters most is that you provide real value in your meta description.
