CMS Update: Google's SEO Meta Description Increase

When a user searches for products or services on Google, they are often shown a meta description of your site, commonly called a snippet. Google recently increased how much of a snippet is displayed to searching users from 130 characters to around 300 characters.

The LVSYS CMS has been updated to reflect this change. Now, when entering a meta description for your site, the CMS will alert you when you have reached the newer, longer character limit of 300 characters.

Ultimately, snippets are meant to provide the most helpful information possible about your site and encourage users to click through and learn more. Whether your meta description is relatively short or long, what matters most is that you provide real value in your meta description.
